What have I been listening to lately, that I've enjoyed?

Ra Ra Riot
Saw them play at The Echo about a month ago & was pretty impressed. They are one of my recent favorites. They're very cute & seem, so far, unjaded.

Ok Go
Super catchy & I have a huge crush on the singer. Because he's super hot.

Rachel Yamagata
Bought her album a while ago but just got around to listening to it. Really like her voice. It's a little huskier than Feist & all around sounds a little darker & sad. I like.

Red Cortez
Just heard them live this week (@ The Echo, again) & thought they were better than the other two bands that everyone else was there to see... I haven't listened to their whole record yet, but what I heard made me interested.

Does It Offend You, Yeah?
Like them. A lot. Saw them play (once again, at The Echo) & I thought they were really good live. Maybe a little drunk, but had a lot of energy. Also, the thing that caught my attention when I first heard We are Rockstars on the radio was that the opening of the song reminded me of the music/sounds(?) from a David Lynch short film (I'm pretty sure that's what I was thinking of). They play it on 103.1 when they have DL read the weather report, but I've been unsuccessful in finding a clip on the web - so I've be unable to confirm my recollection - so it's been driving me a little crazy... But anyhow. Haven't gotten tired of them yet.

Death Cab for Cutie
Think Narrow Stairs is freaking great. I love loved The Photo Album & for awhile never thought they could top it. But I finally got used to the idea of a Death Cab album that wasn't all sad stuffs... so this makes me happy.

Cheap Time
Came across them randomly. They're kinda punkish. Really distorted vocals. I enjoy the sort of happy grunginess of it. & they sometimes remind me of Devo.


What have I heard lately that I haven't enjoyed?

Crystal Castles
I've tried listening to them several times... & I just find them obnoxious. ::Shrugs::

Division of Laura Lee
I probably just hate them because I had to listen to my boyfriend mix their live show for hours on end. & they're not that good. Terrible singer, but sometimes their tune-age is catchy.

Vampire Weekend
I only ever listen to A-punk once in awhile. The rest of the album kinda bores me. Totally disappointing.


Ech. As you can probably tell, I'm not really that into reviewing shit. Which is why my Yelp reviews suck. But I do it anyway. & did it here. ::Shrugs::
